patient sleep- wake rhythms in hospital

چکیده
for most people iterance to hospital is a disturbing experience and expects that nurses be sensitive to patient's physical, emotional and social need at admission. whereas interrupt of sleep due to physical, psychological and social status damage, knowing about effective mechanisms in retention and disturbance of sleep – wake cycles help nurses to make natural criteria for their patient's sleep. this article is review literature about sleep- wake cycles, sleeps function, source and factors affecting on normal sleep- wake cycles improvement or factors that due to disturbance in normal cycle in patient's hospitalization period

Neuronal Synchronization and Thalamocortical Rhythms in Sleep, Wake and Epilepsy
Neuronal synchronization can be defined as a correlated appearance in time of two or more events associated with various aspects of neuronal activity. Neuronal synchronization depends on chemical and electrical synaptic as well as ephaptic and non-specific interactions. We consider two distinct types of neuronal synchronization: local synchronization that is responsible for the generation of lo...
متن کاملRemote long-term registrations of sleep-wake rhythms, core body temperature and activity in marmoset monkeys
Initial studies in the day active marmoset monkey (Callithrix jacchus) indicate that the sleep-wake cycle of these non-human primates resembles that of humans and therefore conceivably represent an appropriate model for human sleep. The methods currently employed for sleep studies in marmosets are limited. The objective of this study was to employ and validate the use of specific remote monitor...
متن کامل[Changes in circadian sleep-wake and rest-activity rhythms during different phases of menstrual cycle].
The results of previous studies on the menstrual-related sleep changes were inconsistent. The menstrual-related circadian sleep-wake and rest-activity rhythms changes are still uncertain. Using actigraphic monitoring of wrist activity, we investigated the sleep-wake and rest-activity patterns of 12 normally cyclic healthy women during reproductive life. Multivariate analyses were performed duri...
متن کاملAge-associated difference in circadian sleep-wake and rest-activity rhythms.
Using actigraphic monitoring of wrist activity, we investigated the sleep and rest-activity patterns of 65 young, middle-aged, old and the oldest subjects in their natural environmental conditions. To assess the effects of age and gender on sleep and circadian rhythms in activity, multivariate analyses were performed. Age significantly affected circadian sleep and rest-activity rhythms. In the ...
متن کاملMelatonin and Sleep-Wake Rhythms before and after Ocular Lens Replacement in Elderly Humans
Light of short wavelengths has been shown to play a key role in non-image forming responses. Due to aging, the ocular lens becomes more yellow reducing the transmission of short wavelengths in the elderly. In the present study, we make use of cataract surgery to investigate the effects of a relative increase of short wavelength transmission on melatonin- and sleep-wake rhythms (N = 14). We obse...
متن کاملThe development of sleep-wake rhythms and the search for elemental circuits in the infant brain.
Despite the predominance of sleep in early infancy, developmental science has yet to play a major role in shaping concepts and theories about sleep and its associated ultradian and circadian rhythms. Here we argue that developmental analyses help us to elucidate the relative contributions of the brainstem and forebrain to sleep-wake control and to dissect the neural components of sleep-wake rhy...
